Ethnic Competition in the Horn of Africa

Severe problems have been found in Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia which are some of the countries found in the Horn of Africa.

Ethnic Competition to Dominate Nationality

In some parts of Africa, especially in the Horn of Africa, some ethnic groups have sparked complex and brutal conflicts in some regions. Ethiopia and Eritrea have been at battle for the past 30 years. When Ethiopia regained its independence from Italy, the United Nations awarked Eritrea to Ethiopia. Ethiopians dictated upon Eritrea and refused to allow Eritrea to run its own affairs. Ethiopia dissolved Eritrean legislature and banned Tigrinya, Eritrea's main local language. Fed up with all of it, they went to war and have been fighting for the past 30 years for Eritrean independence. It wasnt until 1993 that Eritrea gained independence.

Ethnic Competition in Lebanon

Lebanon has 4 million people living in a 4,000 mile radius (about as big as connecticut.) It has been destroyed over the past hundreds of years over religous war. It is the battle ground for most religious conflict. Many civil wars have happened in the 1970s and 1980s between Christian and Muslim groups.
